Business Ties Between Uzbekistan and Perm Krai Reach New Heights
Trade, industrial cooperation, training of engineers, and new business contacts — cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia is developing not only at the intergovernmental, but also at the regional level. Interaction with Perm Krai serves as one such example. The next opportunities for direct contacts between manufacturers and entrepreneurs will be opened by the AgroExpo Uzbekistan 2026 exhibition, which will take place in Tashkent on November 25–27.
Uzbekistan pursues a multi-vector foreign economic policy and is increasing cooperation with partners in Asia, Europe, and other regions. Interaction with Russia occupies a prominent place in this system thanks to trade ties, industrial projects, and interregional contacts.
According to the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, in 2025, trade turnover with Russia reached $13 billion, an increase of 8.4%. Exports of Uzbek products amounted to $4.4 billion, gaining 12.2%.
In January–August 2026, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover with Russia amounted to $9.2 billion, according to data from the National Statistics Committee of the Republic.
According to First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov, trade grew by 20% in January–July 2026 to about $7.5 billion, with growth occurring in both directions.
On October 6, 2026, Fergana hosted the 27th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission. The parties reported that 17 joint projects worth $350 million are planned to be launched in 2026 in chemicals, agro-processing, and metalworking. They also signed the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development for 2026–2040.
In 2025, almost 1 million Russian tourists visited Uzbekistan.
During those same days, the 3rd Council of Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan was held in Fergana. Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that almost 80 constituent entities of the Russian Federation are involved in trade, economic, scientific, technical, and humanitarian ties with Uzbekistan.
The scale of interaction is also evidenced by the figures cited by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 5, 2026. According to him, over ten years, mutual trade turnover has more than tripled — from $4 billion to $13 billion. The portfolio of joint projects between the two countries exceeds $50 billion.
The head of state also noted the role of regions in developing economic ties. Among Uzbekistan's Russian partners, he named Perm Krai, emphasizing the importance of interregional projects in industry, energy, mechanical engineering, agriculture, logistics, and other sectors.
Uzbekistan's cooperation with Russian regions allows enterprises to directly discuss supplies, search for technological partners, and develop joint production projects.
Industrial cooperation has become one of the areas of interaction with Perm Krai. Earlier, the parties agreed to prepare a roadmap for cooperation with the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan. Promising areas include the oil and gas and chemical industries, mechanical engineering, and supplies of high-tech equipment.
For Uzbekistani enterprises, it is not only the purchase of finished products that presents interest. Joint ventures and technology localization can contribute to the development of local industry, job creation, and the expansion of engineering competencies.
Regional cooperation also includes business missions, participation in industrial exhibitions, and direct negotiations between companies. Such formats help identify specific demand and move from general agreements to discussing commercial terms.
The Perm regional branch of "Delovaya Rossiya" announced a business mission to Uzbekistan for October 19–23, 2026. The itinerary for the trip included the route Perm — Tashkent — Samarkand.
The first results are already in. Over two days in Tashkent, the "Perm – Uzbekistan" business dialogue took place; the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation, and Uzbekistani colleagues were invited to Perm for a return visit. This was reported by the Telegram channel of the Perm branch of "Delovaya Rossiya".
According to the organizers, after the official part, the entrepreneurs exchanged contacts, and some have already agreed on new negotiations. At the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, company requests were discussed, and a decision was made to exchange commercial proposals. On the second day, the delegation visited one of the largest technology parks in Central Asia. Products ranging from household appliances to elevators, escalators, and industrial equipment are manufactured there.
Such trips create opportunities to get acquainted with the Uzbekistani market, hold negotiations with potential partners, and explore prospects for business interaction.
The next opportunity for direct communication between manufacturers and potential buyers will appear at the AgroExpo Uzbekistan 2026 international agricultural exhibition. It is scheduled for November 25–27 at the "Uzexpocentre" National Exhibition Complex in Tashkent.
The event is dedicated to agricultural machinery, crop production, horticulture, and livestock breeding. The organizers have provided for visitor registration, exhibition stand booking, and a business program.
For Uzbekistani farmers, agricultural holdings, and processing enterprises, the exhibition can become an opportunity to study manufacturers' offers, compare technical characteristics of equipment, and discuss maintenance and delivery terms.
According to the press service of the Russian Trade Representation in Uzbekistan, Russia will be represented at the exhibition by Rostselmash, Tenzo-M Weighing Company, Yaroslavich Industrial Group, and a collective exposition of Perm Krai. The Perm stand will showcase veterinary drugs, agricultural machinery, loaders, attachments, and other tractor equipment. The business program includes the 9th International Poultry Forum, the 3rd National Farmers Forum, and a breeding livestock auction.
Participation in industry events also helps companies find partners for further cooperation — from supplies of finished products to localization of equipment and the creation of joint ventures.
Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia covers more than just mutual supplies of goods. Industrial projects, technology exchange, personnel training, and the development of educational ties play an important role.
In his speech at SPIEF, Shavkat Mirziyoyev specifically noted the importance of localizing production, forming industrial chains, and expanding interregional ties. Among the priority areas, he named energy, chemicals, mechanical engineering, agriculture, logistics, and the textile industry.
For the Uzbekistani economy, such interaction opens up opportunities to expand export supplies, modernize enterprises, and develop its own production. For Russian regions, the republic represents a market with growing demand for industrial equipment, agricultural technologies, and engineering solutions.
At the same time, the development of ties with Russia remains part of Uzbekistan's multi-vector foreign economic policy. Expanding cooperation with various countries allows entrepreneurs to choose partners based on business needs, technological capabilities, and commercial terms.
The example of Perm Krai shows the role that regional ties can play in this process. Exhibitions, business missions, and direct negotiations create the foundation for further cooperation, and its practical results will depend on the implementation of specific agreements between the enterprises of the two countries.
