Brownish Tap Water: Veolia Comments on Complaints from Tashkent Residents

Today, November 4, Tashkent residents began posting photos and videos on social media showing brownish hot water running in their apartments. Veolia Energy Tashkent explained that the color change is related to preparations for the heating season.

In particular, this issue may affect residents of the Mirzo-Ulugbek district, including the Karasu, Feruza, and Yalangach residential areas. As reported by the company, specialists are currently adjusting water circulation in the main networks.

Due to changes in pressure and water movement, natural deposits that accumulated over the summer are being washed off the pipe walls. This can temporarily alter the color of the hot water and cause an unpleasant odor.

Currently, Veolia crews are removing stagnant water at key nodes of the main networks and flushing individual sections of the pipelines.

Residents facing this problem are advised not to drain the cloudy water themselves or tamper with the meters. Instead, they should send their exact address—district, residential area, and building number—via the company's Telegram bot. The requests will be passed to dispatchers, after which specialists will deploy to flush the corresponding section of the external network.

Veolia apologized for the temporary inconvenience and reported that measures are being taken to restore normal system operations as quickly as possible.
