British rapper Yung Filly to face rape retrial in Australia next June

British rapper Yung Filly is set to face a retrial for rape in Australia next June after a jury was unable to reach a verdict in an earlier case.
In July, the 31-year-old, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was cleared by a jury of three rape charges, one assault charge and one strangulation charge, but was convicted of two assault offences. The jury did not decide on three further rape charges.
A female fan, who was 20 at the time, says Barrientos repeatedly raped and assaulted her in his hotel room in Perth, Western Australia, after a concert in 2024.
The court had previously heard that Barrientos and the woman had consensual sex before she said it became violent and that he would not stop.
On Friday, Perth's District Court fixed 15 June as the start date for the retrial, which is expected to last eight days.
Barrientos did not have to attend court and is understood to have gone back to the UK after the court allowed him to leave Australia under his bail conditions.
Sentencing for the two assault convictions handed down in July will happen after the retrial.
Barrientos, who was born in Colombia and raised in the UK, is known for his work with the YouTube collective Beta Squad.
He has also appeared in the celebrity edition of Bake Off on Channel 4 and presented BBC Three programmes.
