Britain and Ukraine to jointly produce Storm Shadow missiles

Britain and Ukraine have agreed to jointly develop Storm Shadow missiles. This was announced ahead of the Coalition of the Willing summit in Kiev, UNIAN reported.

Byrneham, who visited Kiev personally, noted that the UK was the first country to deliver long-range weapons to Ukraine in 2023.

“Now Volodymyr Zelensky has asked us to provide Storm Shadow technology so that Ukraine can develop these capabilities itself. Today I am pleased to confirm that I have approved this request and have contacted British and French industry. We also thank President Macron and his colleagues for now working with Ukraine to develop this capability,” Byrneham said.

Byrneham noted that it is becoming clear that Russia is running out of wartime capabilities.

“That is why Putin is now hoping to win through a campaign of terror using ballistic missiles against the civilian population of Ukraine. We have seen recently that a children’s hospital and a kindergarten were hit. This can never be the basis for victory, and we must say that clearly today,” Burnham said.

Therefore, the British Prime Minister said that it is necessary to take all measures and work together with allies, including those outside the “Coalition of the Willing”, to “deeply engage our own air defense assets” to meet Ukraine’s needs.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the UK remains a true leader in supporting Ukraine’s defense and European security. He thanked the representatives of the UK and France, noting that the decisions taken will strengthen the Ukrainian army.

The Ukrainian president also said that efforts should be stepped up to ensure that the country receives a "winter package" of air defense systems: "We need a winter package of Patriot missiles. We hope to get this package. We need at least 300 Patriot missiles for the winter and cold months."
