Belarus and Uzbekistan will expand joint projects

Belarus and Uzbekistan intend to expand joint projects. A discussion on the further development of Belarusian-Uzbek cooperation and the implementation of joint initiatives was held at the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus. The meeting was held with Nuriddin Mamajonov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Belarus, according to the press service of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus.

Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, Natalya Kochanova, noted the friendly nature and active development of relations between the two countries in various spheres. According to her, Belarus and Uzbekistan interact on international platforms and provide mutual support.

Kochanova highlighted the economy, education, healthcare, youth, and historical policies as key areas of cooperation. She also recalled the signing of a declaration establishing a strategic partnership between the countries on July 8–9, during the visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Belarus.

One of the goals of bilateral relations remains increasing mutual trade to $2 billion by 2030. Kochanova emphasized the importance of implementing the agreements reached to achieve this goal.

The Uzbek Ambassador emphasized the high level of relations between the two countries and the significant potential for their further development. Nuriddin Mamajonov named trade and economic cooperation as a priority area.

According to him, the parties expect to achieve the target trade turnover volume ahead of schedule. The Ambassador expressed confidence that the $2 billion figure can be reached within the next eighteen months.

Particular attention was paid to interregional cooperation. Mamajonov announced that schedules for visits by regional leaders from both countries have been determined. By the end of October, virtually all regions of Uzbekistan are scheduled to visit Belarus to discuss new projects, including those aimed at developing industrial cooperation.

The meeting also discussed the holding of a Belarusian-Uzbek interparliamentary forum, scheduled for September 29-30 in Khiva.

Furthermore, the participants reviewed projects being implemented with the participation of enterprises from both countries in Belarusian regions, particularly in the Vitebsk and Gomel regions.

The parties discussed virtually all key areas of bilateral cooperation and expressed interest in further expanding their collaboration. According to Nuriddin Mamajonov, the meeting should give new impetus to the development of relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan.
