One of the most outstanding players of the Uzbekistan national team at the World Cup, 19-year-old Behruz Karimov, will defend the honor of the Swiss club Lugano until 2031.

19-year-old Behruz Karimov, one of the brightest players of the Uzbekistan national team at the World Cup, has left Surkhon and joined the Swiss club Lugano.
The defender signed a 5-year contract. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Behruz Karimov was born on August 7, 2007. He first studied at the Adil Junior Academy, and later moved to the Tashkent club Olimpik. Since February 2025, he has been playing for the Surkhon club in Termez.
Founded in 1908 in the city of his name, Lugano is one of the oldest clubs in Switzerland. It is a three-time national champion and four-time Swiss Cup winner.
Last season, the club finished third in the domestic championship, earning them a place in the UEFA Conference League (the competition after the Champions League and Europa League).
In the current Conference League season, the club defeated Runavik of the Faroe Islands 2-0 at home in the first leg of the third qualifying round. The return leg will be played on 13 August. If Lugano advances, they will face the winner of the match between Maccabi Tel-Aviv (Israel) and CSKA Moscow (Bulgaria) for a place in the group stage.
