Bank of America vice president stabbed to death in Times Square

Bank of America vice president Erin Piacenti was stabbed to death in Times Square in New York City, the United States. The attacker also injured a bystander before being shot dead by police. RBC reported.

According to Erin Piacenti's LinkedIn profile, she worked as a conflict of interest officer at Bank of America.

The New York police said the attack took place on August 31. Armed with two knives, 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros first approached the 68-year-old bystander near the intersection of West 41st Street and Seventh Avenue. The man and his wife were waiting to cross the street. Cisneros stabbed the man in the stomach.

The victim was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition. Cisneros then continued north on Seventh Avenue. About 20 seconds later, he stabbed Erin Piacenti in the stomach near 42nd Street.

Officers stopped the assailant between 42nd and 43rd Streets. They tried to get him to drop the weapon for about four minutes, but he refused.

Cisneros reportedly approached the officers, who used a taser. But the woman was unable to stop. Two officers then opened fire, wounding the woman. Cisneros was taken to a hospital where he died.

New York Police Department records show two cases of mental illness in Cisneros from 2018 and 2019. The police commissioner said the investigation found no basis to consider the attack a terrorist attack.
