Atletico Madrid approves Julian Alvarez's transfer to Barcelona — El Chiringuito

Atletico Madrid have approved the transfer of Argentina international striker Julian Alvarez to Barcelona. According to El Chiringuito, the club has given the Argentine player written permission to transfer.

Alvarez had previously publicly stated his intention to leave the club, despite having a contract with the club until 2030. Spanish media reported that Barcelona were ready to offer 130 million euros for the striker. After that, Atletico representatives stated that the chances of Alvarez moving to the Catalan club were zero.

The striker missed two training sessions last week and was not included in Atletico's squad for Saturday's 3-1 La Liga win over Sevilla. On Sunday, he returned to full-time training.

For information, the 26-year-old Alvarez played 49 games for the "Matras" last season, scoring 20 goals. He also played 58 matches for the Argentina national team, scoring 15 goals.

The striker won the 2022 World Cup and two Copa America titles (2021, 2024) with the national team. He also reached the final of the 2026 World Cup with Argentina, losing 0-1 to the Spanish in extra time.
