At least two people have been killed after an explosion at a military barracks in Bolivia, though authorities fear the death toll may be higher.
Bolivian Defence Minister Ernesto Justiniano said at least 58 people were injured when "pyrotechnic material" detonated at the barracks, where an artillery regiment is based, at about 14:30 (18:30 GMT) on Friday.
Health official Rita Nebraska told local television that between 10 and 15 people were thought to have died in the incident in Viacha, about 30km (19 miles) from La Paz, according to Reuters.
Police said dozens of homes were damaged - mainly with windows shattered by the blast - and emergency crews are searching through the debris.
Nebraska said there was a danger of another explosion and urged people to remain at least 150m away from the military base.
Police spokesman Roger Roca told AFP news agency that fireworks had been kept at the barracks, and the cause of the blast was still under investigation.
Authorities in Viacha have declared three days of mourning.
