On August 10, a powerful explosion and fire broke out at an ammunition warehouse at a military factory in Bulgaria. This was reported by RBK Ukraine.
The incident occurred near the village of Belitsa, Tryavna municipality. According to Mayor Dencho Minev, there were no victims or injuries as a result of the explosion and fire. He noted that the fire was brought under control and all employees of the facility were evacuated by buses. According to media reports, about 300 people were evacuated from the area.
An operational headquarters was formed at the scene with the participation of representatives of all law enforcement agencies. According to preliminary information, the incident was caused by a truck fire, after which the ammunition in the warehouse began to explode.
Rescuers continue to fight the fire, which has spread to the surrounding forest areas. The cause of the fire is being investigated. The area has been cordoned off and unauthorized persons are prohibited. The road has been closed and a checkpoint has been set up at an intersection near the village of Armyankovtsi.
Due to smoke and air pollution, authorities have urged residents not to open windows, wear protective masks and avoid unnecessary outings.
The governor of the Gabrovo region has activated a warning system in connection with the fire. Residents have been advised to follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and stay away from the scene. Interior Minister Ivan Demerjiev said that nearby settlements will be evacuated.
Earlier, it was reported that an explosion occurred at a banquet attended by a high-ranking general in Moscow. Three people were killed and 21 others were injured in the explosion at a restaurant. Russian authorities have classified the incident as a terrorist act.
