A massive fire that broke out on the territory of the "Karvon Bozor" in Bukhara caused great damage to thousands of entrepreneurs.
The total land area of the market is 94,800 square meters, and the part allocated for commercial activities — for shopping stalls and permanent retail and service outlets — is 5,200 square meters. The market consists of a total of 4 blocks, where 880 retail shops served the population.
According to the information service of the Emergency Situations Department of the Bukhara region to "Xabar.uz", a total of 35 crews and 375 firefighters belonging to the Emergency Situations Department of the Bukhara region were mobilized to extinguish the fire.
In order to maintain public order and protect citizens' property in the area where the fire occurred, 743 personnel of the Bukhara Regional Internal Affairs Department and 200 employees of the National Guard in the Bukhara region were involved in the service and deployed in a ring around the market.
"Fire and rescue crews from the Emergency Situations Department of the Navoiy region also arrived quickly," said the head of the information service.
According to entrepreneurs and witnesses, the fire was fully extinguished at around 02:30 in the night, and not at 00:12 as indicated in official reports.
"We did not manage to gather our products. It was around 01:30 in the night. The fire was not yet fully extinguished, and fire and rescue vehicles from Navoiy had just arrived," says one of the entrepreneurs.
The remaining embers in various shops, particularly in the household appliances and perfumery departments, the overheating of wooden and light-construction buildings, and the explosion of products under this influence caused small fire pockets to repeatedly appear in the area.
"In any case, the fact that the population and student youth united as one and rushed to help until dawn, assisting in moving our products to a safe place, brought comfort to our hearts," say the affected entrepreneurs.
Thousands of students from the Bukhara State Medical Institute and the Asia International University, located near the area where the fire occurred, provided heartfelt assistance. Drivers passing by also did not remain indifferent and rushed to help.
"This fire caused serious damage to an area of 2,200 square meters of the 'Karvon Bozor'. Currently, an operational investigation has been launched regarding the situation by the relevant law enforcement agencies. Detailed information will be provided," said the head of the ESD information service.
The regional leader met with entrepreneurs and citizens in the area where the fire occurred. A special headquarters has been established to support entrepreneurs and quickly resolve their problems.
There are no injured or deceased as a result of the fire. Currently, the causes of the fire are being studied by the employees of the regional ESD. In connection with this situation, pre-investigation checks are being conducted by the employees of the investigative department under the regional IAD.
