In Kyrgyzstan, a proposal has been made to introduce a visa fee for US citizens
We are no slouches either
In an interview with Radio Azattyk, Edil Baisalov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States, proposed establishing a visa fee for US citizens in the amount of 100–200 dollars.
As the diplomat explained, such a measure should be Bishkek's mirror response to the tightening of migration policy by Washington. Baisalov emphasized that the times when absolutely any visitor was welcomed in the republic are in the past. Currently, the tourist flow remains at a stable level, so the introduction of such a fee will not cause it any harm.
Although one cannot count on the rapid implementation of this initiative just yet, the proposal itself is of great interest. In essence, with such a step, the ambassador proposes to build relations with the US on the principles of real equality, which creates an important precedent for the states of Central Asia.
