In Turkey, an unidentified person opened fire at a school in Manisa province on September 22. As a result of the attack, one student was reportedly killed and four people were injured. The incident occurred around 08:00 in the morning at a school in the Turgutlu district. The unidentified suspect fired randomly outside the school.

Following an emergency call, numerous police officers and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The injured were taken to Turgutlu State Hospital. Police have launched an operation to apprehend the suspect, who fled on foot.

This year, two school shootings in Turkey have drawn public attention. On April 15, a 14-year-old student opened fire at his school in Kahramanmaraş province. As a result, nine students and teachers were killed, and another 13 people were injured. The attacker was shot dead by the police. He had brought the weapon into the school building hidden in his bag.

Just a day earlier, a former student opened fire at a school in the neighboring Şanlıurfa province, injuring 16 people, mostly students. The attacker was a teenager aged 17-18. He entered the high school premises with a long-barreled weapon.
