On September 26, a powerful explosion occurred in the Dera Ismail Khan district in northwestern Pakistan.
According to reports, the dead included nine men, two women, and one child.
Dera Ismail Khan district is located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan. Militant attacks are frequently observed in this area. They usually target the police and security forces.
Police and Rescue 1122 representatives said a tractor trailer loaded with unidentified explosives crashed into a checkpoint. District Police Chief Ziauddin Ahmad confirmed that it was a suicide bombing. Officials stated that the "Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan" group was behind the attack.
The explosion destroyed a large part of the checkpoint and razed a house next to it. According to local officials and residents, the explosion was so powerful that it was heard from long distances. Loud sounds of gunfire were also heard in the area after the blast.
In September, numerous security incidents, including attacks involving "Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan", continue in this district. On September 24, Pakistan carried out airstrikes on 10 targets in Afghanistan intended for launching and storing drones. Officials explained this by stating that drones were launched from Afghan territory on September 23, which violated Pakistan's sovereignty.
