A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck off the east coast of Indonesia, killing 20 people. Six more were injured, and several remain trapped under rubble.
According to authorities, the tremors lasted about a minute, followed by several dozen aftershocks. The strongest of these measured 6.1.
The disaster damaged buildings, homes, and schools. In Nagekeo County, approximately 2,000 people were evacuated. A landslide occurred in one town. Meter-high waves were recorded off the coast of Flores Island, prompting residents to stay away from the shore. The tsunami warning was later canceled.
Rescue services continue to assess the extent of the damage caused by the earthquake.
