Russian officials are trying to move their wealth abroad amid intensifying rumors of military mobilization — Bloomberg

In recent months, high-ranking Russian officials have been trying to open accounts in foreign banks and move their assets abroad amid rumors of a possible new mobilization starting in the country. Bloomberg reported this, citing certain documents obtained by journalists.

According to the agency, employees of the Russian military commissariat are also doing the same. In addition, they are advising their friends and relatives to leave the country as well.

For several weeks, reports have been circulating in Russia that a new mobilization for the war could be announced after the State Duma elections. The media and Ukrainian officials regularly comment on this topic.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed that the Russian government might be planning to mobilize 300,000 people in the fall.

Reacting to this, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Ukrainian officials are trying to "ideologically destabilize" the situation in the country with their statements about a possible mobilization in Russia.

Vladimir Putin commented on the rumors, stating that "today there is no scenario that requires mobilization." He called such reports "absolute nonsense" and an "information attack" against Russia.
