Amendments have been made to the law on seismic safety

The powers of the Inspectorate for Control in the Field of Construction and Housing and Communal Services regarding the control of seismic safety of buildings, the formation of electronic technical passports, and the enhancement of earthquake resistance have been defined. Additionally, a master plan is being introduced into the structure of urban planning documentation.

Amendments have been made to the law on seismic safety

In accordance with the amendments and additions made to the Law "On Ensuring Seismic Safety of the Population and Territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan," this inspection under the Cabinet of Ministers controls the compliance of buildings and structures under construction with the requirements of regulatory documents on seismic safety.

The inspection participates in classifying buildings by seismic vulnerability based on electronic technical passports, conducting their instrumental-technical inspection, and increasing their earthquake resistance.

Its competence also includes the formation of electronic technical passports for all types of buildings and structures planned for construction in seismically active zones and subject to inspection control, as well as for multi-story residential buildings. These passports will compile the information necessary to assess the seismic vulnerability of buildings.

In addition, the inspection takes the necessary measures to ensure the earthquake resistance of newly constructed buildings and to increase the earthquake resistance of existing buildings and structures.

The master plan is being defined as a town planning document

According to the amendments, the master plan is also being included in the structure of town planning documents.

The master plan is defined as a document aimed at eliminating specific problems in territories, combining town planning, socio-economic, environmental, and other project solutions.

The law comes into force three months after the date of its official publication.
