In the United States, a 36-year-old woman named Madeline Veronica Daly kidnapped her 11-month-old son and shot him in the face. Her goal was to prevent the father from being granted custody of her child. This was reported by the Zakon.kz publication, citing The New York Post.

As it turned out, the woman was dissatisfied with the court decision that the child should be given to the father. After that, she took her son from Wyoming to New Mexico. Law enforcement officers found him in a trailer park near Silver City. Seeing that he had escaped into a van, the police surrounded the van and were waiting for a warrant to enter.

During the investigation, Madeline Daly said that she did not regret her actions because she “protected” her son from his father and his relatives. She noted that the man never paid financial or physical attention to the boy, nor showed him affection.

During the trial, the woman pleaded guilty. According to prosecutors, she is expected to be sentenced to the maximum penalty - life imprisonment.
