The final hearing in the case of the death of world football legend Diego Maradona took place in Buenos Aires. According to Reuters, 7 medical workers are in the dock. They are charged with involuntary manslaughter.

According to the investigators, it was the doctors' negligence that could have led to the footballer's death from cardiac arrest in November 2020 — just a few weeks after brain surgery. The medical staff themselves completely deny their guilt.

It should be recalled that the first trial began in March last year, but was soon suspended after the resignation of one of the judges due to a violation of judicial ethics. As a result, the proceedings were annulled and restarted with a different panel.

The official verdict and sentence will be announced in December this year.
