Taxi driver beaten and hospitalized in Tashkent: how did the conflict start?

On August 17, a verbal argument between 27-year-old taxi driver Yakubbek Jo'raboyev and a female passenger in Tashkent turned into a fight. According to the driver, the passenger called his relatives to the scene, and after they arrived, the situation became even more tense. Kun.uz has learned the details of this incident.

Yakubbek Jo'raboyev said that on August 17, he picked up a female passenger with her children from the Karakamysh region.

“I picked up (the passenger) from Karakamysh. He was a little nervous, I carried his luggage myself. He was with his children. As he was leaving, he was shouting and arguing with someone on the phone. I said he was nervous. His child kicked the seat. I warned him, look at your child, he kicked him. The child opened the car windows and doors. Is it my fault if he gets out of the car? I warned him, but after being rude, I told him to pull over to the side of the road, get out, and call another taxi. He said, “I’ll call my brothers now, they’ll solve the problem.”

His brother came and parked the car. I got in the car, called 102. When I told him that, he hit me, I hadn’t gotten out of the car, he tried to pull me down and take my phone. He wanted to delete the videos. My phone fell to the ground, we got into an argument. The car wasn’t turned off, I hit it when he hit me, and the car It moved and crashed forward. I didn’t know what happened because I was stressed. Other bloggers (the passenger’s relatives) came and pressured, spat on, and threw garbage at the car. After her brothers arrived, the woman slandered me by saying, “He offered me sex.” But I have a reason, I have a video on my phone. I have a child in my arms, how could I do such a thing to a woman who is older than my sister? That’s not what happened.”

The driver was hospitalized

The ambulance workers who arrived at the scene provided the driver with first aid and then took him to the hospital for further examination and treatment.

According to neurosurgeon Umid Boltayev, the patient told him about the incident when he arrived at the hospital.

“The patient reported that he was beaten by strangers and that he crashed his car while fleeing the scene and sustained injuries. The examination revealed swelling in the forehead and nape of the neck, as well as bruises on both shoulders, the left side of the chest, and the front of the abdomen. Considering the patient's injuries, we admitted him to the neurosurgery department for observation and treatment."

What does the other side say?

In order to hear the other side of the conflict, Kun.uz editorial staff tried to contact the passenger and his relatives through the numbers available. But there was no answer to the calls.

It is said that the people who used force on the driver, that is, the passenger's acquaintances, were well-known instabloggers. In the videos they took at the scene and posted on their pages, they said that the driver tried to sexually assault their sisters and resisted them from getting out of the car. However, these videos have now been deleted from their pages.

The Tashkent City Main Department of Internal Affairs announced that a criminal case has been initiated under Article 277 of the Criminal Code.
