SCO Universal Security Center to be Created in Tashkent
The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan has approved in the third reading a draft law on the ratification of the agreement on the creation of a Universal Center for Countering Security Challenges and Threats to SCO Member States, the press service of the lower house of parliament reported.
The agreement was signed on September 1, 2025, in Tianjin. The new structure will be located in Tashkent on the basis of the existing Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS).
The center will also include the Information Security Center and the Center for Countering Transnational Organized Crime in Bishkek. The structure's key tasks include coordinating special services, prompt information exchange, joint risk analysis, conducting exercises, and training personnel to combat terrorism, extremism, and cyber threats.
Following its approval by the deputies, the document was sent to the Senate for consideration.
