Rock collapse in Cappadocia. Two people killed

On October 29, a rock collapsed at the entrance of the Göreme Open-Air Museum in the Cappadocia region of Turkey.

CNN Turk reported, citing local authorities, that heavy rainfall caused pieces of rock to detach and fall onto the area where people were standing.

The bodies of two people were found under the debris. One injured person was hospitalized.

Search and rescue operations are continuing at the scene.

Due to rain and strong winds, hot air balloon flights in Cappadocia were canceled on October 29-30.

Göreme National Park in the historical region of Cappadocia is a historical and archaeological open-air museum. This place is famous for organizing hot air balloon tours for tourists. Many cave settlements, including underground cities and rock-cut monasteries, have been preserved in Cappadocia.
