**A person who committed murder out of jealousy was sentenced to 20 years of deprivation of liberty**

Sometimes suspicion in a family starts with a single word. Then it turns into a quarrel, and the quarrel into an irreversible tragedy. This incident, which took place in the Qorako‘l district, also arose due to jealousy.

According to court documents, citizen O‘.B. and N.H. married in 2010. They raised several children. However, over time, disagreements began to arise between the husband and wife.

O‘.B. suspected his spouse of talking to other men. This very suspicion caused mutual conflicts. He even accused his wife of infidelity and filed a lawsuit for divorce at the beginning of this year. The court gave them a six-month period for reconciliation. Unfortunately, the time set by the court led not to the restoration of relations, but to a serious crime.

### "I just wanted to scare her..."

In the middle of the night, having consumed alcohol with the intention of talking to his wife, O‘.B. came knocking on his mother-in-law's gate. Since the gate was open and no one came out, he went straight inside the house. His wife, mother-in-law, and several other female relatives were sitting and talking in the house.

The sudden entry of the intoxicated man into the room startled the women. O‘.B. took a kitchen knife standing near the TV and rushed at his wife N.H. He struck her in the neck and arm areas with the knife. He also stabbed his mother-in-law Sh.E., who stepped in to protect her daughter. N.H. managed to escape from the room while injured.

— I just wanted to scare my wife. But I admit that the knife hit her, I had no intention of killing. I do not remember stabbing my mother-in-law, — he said in court.

The mother-in-law fell to the ground with a serious injury. It was impossible to save the patient's life before the doctors arrived.

### "My mother tried to protect me..."

The forensic medical examination recorded that Sh.E. was inflicted with a life-threatening, severe penetrating stab wound to the chest. The injury damaged the heart and lung areas.

— My husband's constant state of being under the influence of alcohol for many years, and his endless accusations of jealousy out of nowhere, had pushed me to my limit. Everything happened in an instant before my eyes. My mother stepped in to protect me and bid farewell to her life, — N.H. sheds tears in court.

According to the development of events, hearing the commotion in his house, B.H. and O.T. ran to the women's room, grabbed citizen O‘.B., and took him outside. He put up active resistance and fled through the gate.

— At those very seconds, I was bewildered and even stunned by everything being covered in blood. Meanwhile, my late wife Sh.E. was struggling for her life at that moment, — says B.H.

According to court documents, O‘.B., who committed the crime, fled his mother-in-law's yard covered in blood and barefoot, and went to the local prevention inspector. He said that he had killed his wife and mother-in-law. He even stated that if they survived, he might kill other members of his family as well.

Following this, citizen O‘.B. was detained.

### Firm conclusion

O‘.B. stated in court that he had no intention of killing anyone and took the knife to scare them. However, the court compared his arguments with the testimonies of the victim and witnesses, the conclusions of forensic medical, forensic biological, criminalistic, and psychiatric examinations, protocols of the crime scene investigation, and other evidence.

According to the court's conclusion, his actions were assessed not as accidental, but as intentionally committed criminal acts. In particular, the fact that the mother-in-law, who stepped in to protect N.H. after she was attacked, was also struck was given special attention by the court.

The decision of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan on judicial practice in cases of intentional murder notes that committing murder in front of the victim's close relatives, if the perpetrator realized that his actions were causing them intense suffering, is assessed as a circumstance of extreme cruelty.

The court also took into account the rules related to circumstances involving the intentional murder of a person performing their civic duty.

### 20-year sentence

The court found O‘.B. guilty of committing the crimes stipulated in Article 25, Article 97, Part 2, Paragraph "j", Article 97, Part 2, Paragraphs "g", "j", and "r", and Article 219, Part 2 of the Criminal Code. By partial addition of punishments, he was sentenced to a final punishment of 20 years of deprivation of liberty, to be served in a general regime colony.
