**A new award has been introduced in the field of intellectual property**
In Uzbekistan, the badge "For Contribution to the Development of the Field of Intellectual Property" has been established. This is specified in the Cabinet of Ministers' Resolution No. 471 dated September 5, 2026.
The badge will be awarded to individuals who have made a worthy contribution to the development of the intellectual property field, ensuring the legal protection of intellectual property objects, and raising the legal culture of the population in this area.
In particular, employees of state and non-state organizations, representatives of research and educational institutions, employees of international organizations, and business entities can be nominated for the award. Proposals regarding candidates are to be sent to the Ministry of Justice annually by March 1. They must also include information about the candidate's work in the field of intellectual property over the last three years.
Candidates will be evaluated by a special commission. In this process, participation in the development of state programs and regulatory legal acts in the field of intellectual property, assistance in creating new intellectual property objects, ensuring their legal protection, and contributions to preventing violations will be taken into account.
The badge will be presented annually on the eve of April 26 — World Intellectual Property Day. Along with the badge and certificate, the awarded individuals will also receive a one-time monetary prize in the amount of 20 times the BCA (Base Calculating Amount).
A person can be awarded this badge only once.
The resolution also approved the description, sample, and certificate of the badge, as well as the scheme for selecting and awarding candidates.
