A football match dedicated to the memory of the Tashkent Pakhtakor players who died in the plane crash on August 11, 1979, took place in Petrozavodsk. The national teams of Russia and Uzbekistan met on the field.

This tragedy is one of the darkest chapters in the history of Soviet football. The plane crash killed all Pakhtakor players on board, including Viktor Churkin, Mikhail An, Vladimir Fedorov, and other team members.

The memorial match was organized as part of events commemorating the anniversary of the tragedy and brought together representatives of the football communities of Russia and Uzbekistan.
