A man who attempted to smuggle cocaine in his stomach was detained in Spain

A man who attempted to smuggle more than 1.3 kilograms of cocaine in his stomach was detained at the Palma de Mallorca airport in Spain. Bild reported this.

According to the Spanish National Police, the 46-year-old passenger had flown in from the Belgian city of Charleroi. Belgian law enforcement agencies had warned their Spanish colleagues that the man might be involved in drug smuggling.

After the plane landed, he was detained by customs, Civil Guard, and police officers. The man was sent for an X-ray examination. The examination revealed numerous suspicious capsules in his digestive system.

At the hospital, 109 white capsules were extracted from his body. The forensic examination confirmed that the capsules contained cocaine with a total weight of 1.353 kilograms. Law enforcement agencies emphasized that carrying drugs in this manner is extremely dangerous. Even the rupture of a single capsule can lead to severe poisoning of the body.

It was decided to keep him in custody during the drug smuggling investigation.

For reference, in April and September, it was revealed that cocaine had been sent to Tashkent via mail from Africa (782 g) and Germany (4 kg). Additionally, the transit of 11 kg of drugs from Thailand to Tashkent was prevented.
