A forest fire broke out in Surkhandarya

A fire broke out in the Khomkon forest department in the Baysun district. More than 300 people participated in extinguishing it. In particular, volunteers from the local population were involved.

A fire broke out in a forest area in the Boysun district of Surkhandarya region. The regional Emergency Management Department (EMD) reported this officially.

According to the report, on August 12 at 17:15, a report was received by the “112” number about a fire in the Khomkon forest department of the Boysun state forestry.

Employees and equipment from the Surkhandarya regional EMD and Boysun state forestry arrived at the scene. 194 employees and 8 pieces of equipment from the EMD, 60 employees and 3 pieces of equipment from the Boysun state forestry, as well as 55 volunteers from the local population were involved in extinguishing the fire.

By 9:00 on August 15, the fire was completely extinguished. The incident burned approximately 1 hectare of dry grass and brushwood. There were no reports of injuries.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
