A Chinese navy warship has been spotted off Taiwan's Pacific coast for the first time

The "Minfudingyu," registered as a fishing boat, also serves as a militarized vessel of the Chinese fleet. According to Taiwanese officials, China is using its military, paramilitary, and civilian assets to prepare for a potential naval blockade.

For the first time, a military vessel belonging to the Chinese fleet was spotted off Taiwan's Pacific coast

It was reported that in August of this year, a Chinese naval vessel assisting in coastal defense was spotted along with two other ships off Taiwan's Pacific coast.

The report identified the vessel as the fishing boat "Minfudingyu 07902". However, it also functions as a Chinese paramilitary vessel. This vessel was spotted in mid-August operating alongside Chinese coast guard cutters and a research vessel.

All three vessels operated in "an area not commonly used by Chinese ships" and were placed under "enhanced surveillance."

According to the publication, China, which claims Taiwan as its territory, has been increasing its activity off the island's eastern coast through regular patrols since June. Taiwan has rejected Beijing's sovereignty claims.

China is using its military, paramilitary, and civilian assets to prepare for a potential naval blockade.

Taiwan, on the other hand, considers the area on the eastern coast to be crucial for allies' supply routes in the event of a blockade or conflict.

China is "using law enforcement and scientific research as a cover to expand the scope of its operations during a non-conflict scenario – to create the illusion of de facto jurisdiction."

The ministry also noted that such actions undermine the international order and pose a threat to Taiwan's maritime rights.

China's Taiwan Affairs Office and Ministry of Defense did not respond to requests for comment.
