A bright object flew across the sky in Tashkent. The Academy of Sciences explained the situation

On the evening of September 19, a bright object leaving a long trail behind it was observed in the sky over Tashkent. According to the preliminary analysis by specialists from the Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences, no characteristics typical of a meteor or bolide were identified in this event.

According to Kamoliddin Ergashev, a senior researcher at the institute, the appearance of the object in the distributed photos and videos, its movement characteristics, and the trail it left behind are more reminiscent of an event associated with a rocket or its upper stage.

According to preliminary orbital calculations, on September 19, four satellites of the PIESAT-2 series were launched from China's Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center using a Long March-2D carrier rocket. It was noted that there is a correlation between the rocket's launch time and orbit, and the time and direction of the event observed in the Tashkent sky.

Therefore, at this stage, it is assumed that the event observed in Tashkent may be related to the rocket stage of this space launch or one of the subsequent orbital processes. However, specialists emphasized that it is still too early to definitively identify the object as a specific part of the Long March-2D rocket.

According to the conclusion of the Astronomical Institute, the bright event observed in the Tashkent sky is currently not characteristic of a meteor or bolide.

It has not been officially confirmed whether the event captured on video is related to a meteorite fall or another natural or man-made source.
