4 young men from Surkhandarya arrested for planning terrorist attack in Russia and trying to travel to Syria

Four young men from Surkhandarya who planned to commit a terrorist attack in Russia and tried to travel to Syria have been sentenced to prison. The State Security Service's press service reported this.

According to information, a resident of the Saryosiyo district, born in 2003, will travel to the Russian city of Makhachkala in 2023 to work. There, he and a local resident nicknamed "Muhammad" will watch videos promoting extremist ideas on social networks and create a secret group. Later, they recruit another young man born in 2005 and plan to travel to Syria. To do this, one of them will take money from his family members without permission.

They planned to travel from Moscow to Turkey and from there to Syria. However, upon reaching Moscow, a disagreement arose between them, and two of them will return. "Muhammad" committed a murder in Kazan and is being held accountable under Russian law. A member of the group, born in 2005, was deported to Uzbekistan and sentenced to 7 years in prison.

Despite this, the group did not stop its activities. Two more Saryosiyans, born in 1999 and 2001, joined them, promoted the ideas of terrorist organizations and planned to carry out criminal actions against law enforcement officers in Makhachkala. They also recruited a citizen of Saryosiyan, born in 2004, to join their ranks.

During the investigation, their crimes were proven. According to the verdict of the Sariosiyo District Criminal Court, these four individuals were found guilty of committing crimes stipulated by the relevant articles of the Criminal Code and each of them was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison.

Earlier, 8 individuals were sentenced for financing terrorists under the guise of donations to Palestine. They transferred funds to the accounts of a person associated with the terrorist organization "Ghuraba Katibasi" operating in Syria.
