3.2 thousand complaints in eight months: Uzbeks report sanitary problems en masse

Almost 70% of appeals to the Sanitary-Epidemiological Committee of Uzbekistan concern sanitary and epidemiological welfare. Citizens raise issues of sanitary standard violations, the epidemiological situation, vaccination, the quality of medical and sanitary care, and the availability of medicines.

As reported by the information service of the Committee for Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health, during the eight months of 2026, the agency received 3,183 appeals from citizens and organizations. In essence, these statistics reflect a kind of map of the problems that the population faces in the field of sanitation and public health.

The committee notes that 96.2% of the appeals were satisfied or positive decisions were made on them. Another 3.8% of applicants received explanations of a general nature.

At the same time, most citizens prefer not to contact the Sanitary-Epidemiological Committee directly. 93.6% of the appeals were received through the Virtual and People's Receptions of the President of Uzbekistan. Another 2.8% were sent in writing, and 3.6% of citizens made oral inquiries.

What are citizens dissatisfied with?

The main source of dissatisfaction is the sanitary and epidemiological condition. This category accounted for about 70% of all appeals. Among the problems are violations of sanitary norms and rules, issues of sanitary control, and the epidemiological situation. Citizens also inquired about vaccination against infectious diseases, therapeutic and preventive care, and the provision of medicines.

A separate block is related to business. About 7% of the appeals concerned entrepreneurial activity, including obtaining sanitary-epidemiological conclusions and other issues arising for entrepreneurs when interacting with the sanitary control system.

The Sanitary-Epidemiological Committee emphasizes that appeals are not only reviewed in the agency's offices. The committee conducts field meetings with the population to address problems directly on-site.

In August alone, such receptions were held in Karakalpakstan, Tashkent, and the Samarkand region. In total, about 80 appeals were reviewed.

The focus of attention was on the sanitary condition of territories, medical and sanitary services, public health issues, and disinfection.
