2,600 participants and two records: the next Sky Camp Bo'stonlyk mountain marathon was held in Tashkent region
The largest mountain marathon in Central Asia, the Sky Camp Bo'stonliq sports festival, was held in Amirsoy. The competition, which brought together 2,600 participants from 20 countries, set two new track records. The oldest participant was a 79-year-old runner.
The next Sky Camp Bo‘stonlyk mountain marathon was held in Tashkent region, with 2,600 participants participating and two records set.
According to the newspaper’s correspondent, the fourth Sky Camp Bo‘stonlyk mountain running (trail) marathon was organized on August 22-23 at the Amirsoy recreation center in Tashkent region.
Recognized as the largest trail start in Central Asia, this event brought together 2,600 participants from 20 countries of the world and 77 cities of Uzbekistan this year. In particular, representatives from countries such as India, China, Ukraine, France, the Philippines, Japan and the USA took part.
In this sports festival, organized by the Culture and Arts Development Foundation together with partner organizations, participants ran 5 km, 10 km and 20 km distances. There were also competitions in such disciplines as PEAK vertical running, ZEN (short run and yoga), children's races, and ecological plogging, where you collect waste.
Muzaffar Bobomurodov, who ran the 5 km distance, explained his impressions as follows: "I have only run on city asphalt before, and this debut in the mountains was a real test for me. Especially during the steep climb, when my legs were tired and I was out of breath, the encouragement of those around me to "go ahead" gave me strength. The organization, the water provided along the way, fruits, and apples at the finish line made the atmosphere even more unforgettable. Now I will start preparing for the starts in the Aral Sea in October."
65 percent of the participants were men, 35 percent were women. The oldest participant was 79-year-old Kasim Gilmonov from Samarkand.
Sky Camp is the only event of this format in Uzbekistan, which is part of the International Trail Running Association. The Trail and PEAK routes are certified, and the results of the participants are counted towards individual qualifications. The 20 km distance allows Uzbek runners to earn points for participation in starts in mountains such as the Alps and the Pyrenees.
For your information, the Samarkand Marathon Series charity series, founded in 2019, includes Sky Camp Bo‘stonliq, Zaamin Ultra, Bukhara Night Race and Samarkand Marathon. From 2026, the Aral Ultra project has also been added.
The next starts of the series will be held on October 3-4 (Aral Ultra) and November 7-8 (Samarkand Marathon).
