17 people traveling from Afghanistan to Iran died of thirst during the journey

17 Afghans who attempted to enter Iran through illegal routes died as a result of dehydration. Among the deceased are women and eight individuals under the age of 18.

According to information provided by the organization, the incident occurred on September 10 in the Saravan border area of Iran. The citizens died after being left without water on the road. Five of the victims were members of a single family from Baghlan province, consisting of a 45-year-old mother and her daughters aged 14, 16, 18, and 22.

Additionally, the victims include approximately six children under the age of 14. Witnesses and relatives of the victims also confirmed that they died due to severe dehydration.

The Halvash organization also stated that it was unable to fully and independently verify the total number of deaths. A similar tragedy had occurred before this. In early August, 19 people who attempted to cross into Iran through the desert in Nimruz province went missing and later died from extreme heat and dehydration.

These incidents show that Afghan migrants face great dangers on illegal routes. Due to poverty, unemployment, and security issues, many Afghans are leaving the country.

They often turn to human smugglers and travel through difficult terrains. Afghan migrants also face the risk of death at the borders on the way to Iran and Turkey due to gunfire, harsh weather, and other problems.
