Ukraine and Russia exchange 103 prisoners of war.
Russia and Ukraine have exchanged 103 prisoners of war. According to the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry, Moscow returned 103 captured soldiers, while Ukraine released the same number of Russian servicemen. This was reported by RBC.
The press service of the human rights representative Yana Lantratova revealed the details of the exchange to RBC. The exchange took place at the Novaya Guta checkpoint in the Gomel region of Belarus. The Russian servicemen who returned from Ukrainian captivity are currently being housed there, and the ombudsman is working with them.
According to Lantratova, among the released there are 31 wounded, as well as fathers with many children and very young men. The Defense Ministry stressed that all servicemen will be provided with the necessary psychological and medical assistance. After that, they will be taken to Russia for treatment and rehabilitation in ministerial institutions.
During the exchange, Lantratova met with the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets. The parties exchanged lists of missing persons and letters from the prisoners' relatives. They also agreed to deliver parcels to the prisoners later.
The previous prisoner exchange was held on June 26 according to the "160 for 160" formula. On August 13, Kiev returned the bodies of 24 soldiers, and Moscow - 261.
