— On the afternoon of September 8, 1998, there was a strong wind. I was in the kitchen preparing eggplant caviar, which our father loved. Suddenly, a strong wind blew everywhere. I looked at my mother-in-law and said, “It seems that a good person has died.” My mother-in-law was surprised by my words. “There shouldn’t be such a wind in September,” I said. Yarkynkhodja was 5 years old and had gone to kindergarten.

Not long after, news came that our father had died in a car accident. A crowd of people immediately gathered at our house. My children were very young at the time, they didn’t even know that their father had died. I soon realized how difficult it was for a single woman. My period of unhappiness began the day my husband died.

The most painful thing is that they treat a single woman differently. Even the attitude of relatives has changed. There were even those who were jealous of their husbands. Not to mention those who begged, "He's an artist." In order not to be inferior to my children, I played two roles in life. That is, I became both a mother and a father to them, says Zohida Umarova.

**"I would disappear during breaks"**

Yorqinkhodja Umarov felt his father's absence at every step. As a result, the small family faced many financial difficulties, and after his mother left the art world, the family's source of livelihood was also cut off.

— I was not a child who ever asked my mother for money. If she gave me, I would take it, and if she didn't, I wouldn't say I didn't have money. As the break approached, I would try to "disappear." Because my classmates would go to the kitchen and buy something. I didn’t even want to tell them that I didn’t have money. We were having a lot of financial difficulties, so I decided to work starting in the 4th grade. At that time, advertisements were posted on the doors of apartment buildings and apartment buildings. I also got a job like that and earned money. My legs would hurt from walking, says the singer.

**“I didn’t want to be an internal affairs officer”**

Although Zohida Umarova is an artist, she doesn’t want her son to take up this profession. She dreamed of Yorqinkhodja becoming an internal affairs officer like his father.

— My mother tried very hard for me to become an internal affairs officer. At first, I thought my mother’s decision was right, but I still couldn’t resist my inner desire, says singer Yorqinkhodja Umarov.

**“I know Russian and English”**

The singer also performs songs in foreign languages. Does she know foreign languages?

— As a child, I studied at an Uzbek school, but I had many friends of Russian nationality. Then I studied in the Russian group of the institute. And since childhood, I have been trying to learn English. Now I can communicate freely in Russian and English, says singer Yorqinkhodja Umarov.

**“I did not want to participate in The Cover Up”**

Yorqinkhodja Umarov, the winner of the “The Cover Up” project, said that he did not really want to participate in it.

— After the “Sulola” team was formed, I began to collect information about festivals held abroad, in particular in China. I intended to “gain experience at foreign festivals and return.” But our team member Nodir aka heard about the “The Cover Up” project and suggested that I participate in it. “What’s the point, let’s go,” I said. So, he persuaded me with one touch, and after the first show, my interest increased. Then I lived only with the thought of winning, says singer Yorqinkhodja Umarov.

**Yorqinkhodja, who became the son-in-law of the Minister of Culture**

On September 19, 2023, at the age of 31, Yorqinkhodja Umarov married 17-year-old Zinnura, the third daughter of the Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov. Before leaving for his bride’s house, Yorqinkhodja presented her mother Zohida Umarova with a special invitation and a gold chain.

The wedding evening of the two young people took place in one of the restaurants in the capital. The ceremony was hosted by Dilnoza Kubayeva, Rixsitilla Abdullayev, Zara Shirinova, Jamshid Umrzokov and Davron Kabulov. Yorkynhoja's mother Zohida Umarova thanked all the guests who came and expressed special gratitude to the show business representatives for not leaving her son alone. Yorkynhoja herself sang a duet with People's Artist of Uzbekistan Gulomjon Yakubov.

— I live separately from Yorkynhoja and Zinnura. My daughter-in-law's mother Nazokatkhan calls every day and says, "Zohida opa, be with them." They are getting used to each other very well, and if they have children tomorrow, the young people will be a little distant. I say let them be satisfied with each other until they have children. Zinnura got married at 17, and my son and I are 14 years old. Thanks to Ozodbek, he trusted his young daughter to Yorqinkhodja.

Yorqinkhodja did not see his daughter-in-law until the wedding, so he said: "My dear, it is not necessary to see her. As long as she is intelligent and has foresight. This is my complete love," he says. My daughter-in-law also thanked me for accepting Islam and not showing herself to my son until marriage, Zohida Umarova said in an interview after the wedding.

The couple had a son on June 15, 2024.

**What is Yorqinkhodja afraid of?**

— When I was young, there was a place with a high fence on the roof. I was quite afraid of heights. "I don't know why I'm afraid of it, my heart skips a beat when I look down from a height," says the singer.
