Uzbekistan's trade, services, catering sectors pay $3.6bn in taxes in 1H26

During the first half of 2026, businesses in Uzbekistan's trade, services, and catering industries remitted over UZS 43.3 trillion ($3.65 billion) in taxes, with the services sector being the primary contributor to this revenue, as reported by the Tax Committee.

The services sector generated the highest tax revenues in the period from January to June, with 163,932 legal entities paying more than UZS 23.5 trillion ($1.98 billion) in taxes. The top 20 taxpayers in this sector alone contributed nearly UZS 4.7 trillion ($395.7 million), which is 19.8% of the total. These major companies recorded a combined turnover of UZS 41 trillion ($3.45 billion) and benefited from tax incentives exceeding UZS 2.8 trillion ($235.7 million).

In the trade sector, 163,597 legal entities collectively paid over UZS 18.8 trillion ($1.58 billion) in taxes. The 20 largest companies in this sector were responsible for UZS 1.7 trillion ($143.1 million), or 9% of the total tax collections. Their combined turnover reached UZS 30.2 trillion ($2.54 billion), and they received tax incentives amounting to UZS 190.3 billion ($16.0 million).

Meanwhile, the catering sector saw 23,148 legal entities pay more than UZS 1 trillion ($84.2 million) in taxes during the first six months of the year. The leading 20 taxpayers in catering contributed UZS 215.9 billion ($18.2 million), making up 21.4% of the total tax payments. Their turnover was UZS 2.8 trillion ($235.7 million), and their tax incentives totaled UZS 25 billion ($2.1 million).

Notable large taxpayers in the services sector included Uzbektelecom, Asia Trans Gas, and Uzbekistan Airways. In the trade sector, Anglesey Food, Oilpro Invest Plus, and Uzum Market were among the biggest contributors. For the catering industry, International Foodchain, Mak Food Servis, and Ketring were identified as major taxpayers.

Previously, the Tax Committee announced that 97 foreign digital service providers paid UZS 143.8 billion ($12.1 million) in taxes in Uzbekistan during the first half of 2026, marking an 84% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
