**Uzbekistan's Senate Endorses Landmark Military Pension Legislation**

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – The Oliy Majlis Senate in Uzbekistan has given its approval to the "Law on State Pension Provision for Military Personnel (Employees) and Their Families" during a recent plenary session. This new legislation comprehensively addresses the pension entitlements for military and law enforcement personnel, aligning them with Uzbekistan's national legal framework, as reported by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During deliberations, senators highlighted that this law represents a continuation of reforms aimed at bolstering social support for military and law enforcement officers, safeguarding their rights and legitimate interests, and enhancing social guarantees.

Senators pointed out that previously, regulations in this domain were primarily governed by legal instruments from the former Soviet Union era and certain international agreements. The new law now establishes a legal foundation for state pension provision that is consistent with Uzbekistan's Constitution and national legislation.

Significantly, this unified law, for the first time, delineates the categories of individuals eligible for state pensions, the criteria for granting pensions based on length of service, disability, and the loss of a breadwinner, along with the procedures for their allocation, recalculation, and disbursement.

The law also introduces additional social support measures for military personnel with extensive service records. Notably, for those who have served for over 30 calendar years, the maximum pension accrual rate will see an increase from 75% to 100%.

These enhanced social guarantees will extend not only to military personnel retiring after the law's enactment but also to current pension recipients, as well as employees and their family members, provided their length of service surpasses 30 years.

Furthermore, the law places considerable emphasis on improving pension provisions for military families. It reinforces guarantees for pensions in instances of a breadwinner's death, including cases where a servicemember perishes while on official duty or succumbs to an injury or illness incurred during service.

According to senators, the enactment of this law will further solidify social protection for military and law enforcement officers, appropriately acknowledge their service, and more reliably protect the rights and legitimate interests of their family members.

Following the discussion, the Senate officially approved the law.
