Uzbekistan, Russia discuss launch of Bauman University branch in Tashkent
Uzbekistan and Russia are in discussions regarding the establishment of a Bauman Moscow State Technical University branch in Tashkent. Officials have been addressing various aspects, including student admissions for the 2026/27 academic year, the construction of a contemporary campus in New Tashkent, and wider collaboration in engineering education.
Sardor Rajabov, Uzbekistan’s First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, held a meeting with a delegation from Bauman Moscow State Technical University, headed by Anton Yegorov, the university's director for international activities.
The primary topics of discussion revolved around the forthcoming university branch in Uzbekistan, encompassing its launch preparations and the organization of admissions for the 2026/27 academic year.
Furthermore, they examined the progress of plans for a modern campus in New Tashkent, which is anticipated to foster the growth of engineering education and collaborative academic endeavors.
The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation reported that significant focus was placed on drawing talented young individuals into engineering disciplines, elevating the standard of training for highly skilled engineering professionals, and executing joint educational projects.
Attendees also deliberated on arranging a groundbreaking ceremony for the campus and outlined subsequent practical measures for the branch's development and the enhancement of Uzbekistan-Russia cooperation in advanced engineering education. The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain practical collaboration to realize the proposed initiatives.
In related news, Uzbekistan and Japan previously inked an agreement to create a joint university in Tashkent, which will provide English-language courses in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and business administration. This university is slated to commence admitting students to master’s programs in the 2028/29 academic year.
This initiative aligns with Uzbekistan's broader strategy to expand international educational partnerships, forge joint programs with prominent foreign universities, and improve access to globally recognized qualifications. With student enrollment nearing 1.7 million, the nation also intends to establish a specialized higher education institution and an international university town.
