Uzbekistan Expands Transport Benefits for Domestic Travel
Citizens in 11 eligible categories in Uzbekistan will receive free or 50% discounted travel on air, rail, and intercity transport under a digitized system.
Uzbekistan is enhancing its domestic travel benefits, offering free or half-price transportation to citizens in 11 specific categories. This initiative covers air, railway, and intercity passenger services.
The new policy aims to bolster support for vulnerable populations and stimulate internal tourism throughout the nation.
A key change involves the complete digitization of transport benefit distribution. Traditional paper coupons will be eliminated, with eligibility for reduced fares automatically confirmed via the Single National Social Protection information system using an ID card or biometric passport.
This modernization is anticipated to improve access to Uzbekistan's historical and cultural landmarks, pilgrimage sites, and natural recreational areas. Specifically, popular destinations such as Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Shakhrisabz, Termez, the Fergana Valley, and various mountain and resort regions will become more attainable for those requiring social assistance.
From 2027, plans include allowing online purchases of discounted tickets directly through the Baraka social card's mobile application. This move is part of broader digital transformation efforts in the social sector, designed to streamline access to transport services.
Officials state that integrating digital solutions into transport services will help fully realize Uzbekistan's tourism potential and further the "Travel Across Uzbekistan!" national program.
