Mirziyoyev Extends Congratulations to Uzbekistan's Railway Workforce

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – On July 31, 2026, Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev conveyed his felicitations to the nation's railway transport employees on the occasion of their professional holiday. He acknowledged the sector's vital role in bolstering the economy and advancing the country's transport and communication framework.

In his address, the president highlighted that in recent years, over 2,400 kilometers of new railway lines have been constructed and made operational, more than 3,000 kilometers have undergone electrification, and in excess of 1,100 kilometers of tracks have been restored.

Significant investment projects have seen the laying of lines connecting Samarkand–Urgut, Baytkorgan–Parkent, and Urgench International Airport–Khiva. Furthermore, a second electrified line commenced operations on the Navoiy–Bukhara segment, with construction ongoing on various other routes.

Mirziyoyev also pointed to the enhanced effectiveness of the national logistics network, attributed to the electrification of the Samarkand–Navoiy, Bukhara–Urgench–Khiva, Miskin–Nukus, and Kumkurgan–Kudukli routes, alongside an increase in railway station capacities.

The president noted that the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway, which will integrate the country into global transport corridors, coupled with ongoing collaboration with Afghanistan on railway infrastructure development, reinforces Uzbekistan's standing as a regional transport and transit nexus.

To elevate transport services on the Tashkent–Khiva–Tashkent route, a new high-speed electric train, named "Jaloliddin Manguberdi" and developed by the South Korean firm Hyundai Rotem, was introduced.

Efforts have also been directed towards modernizing the aesthetics of railway stations, along with their engineering and service infrastructure, thereby creating more entrepreneurial opportunities within sector facilities. The president emphasized the particular focus on integrating digital technologies and artificial intelligence into the railway domain.

Mirziyoyev announced future plans for the acquisition of hundreds of contemporary passenger carriages and advanced trains in the coming years, in addition to further expanding railway infrastructure and refining the quality of passenger services.
