Uzbekistan Expands State Support for Livestock Farming
Uzbekistan's President approved measures to expand state support for livestock farming, including subsidies for breeding stock and new service entities.
Uzbekistan Bolsters State Aid for Livestock Industry

Uzbekistan's President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has endorsed further initiatives aimed at advancing the livestock sector. These measures include offering subsidies for the acquisition of breeding animals, establishing a dedicated service entity, and forming the Livestock Breeders Association, known as "Chorvachilar." The President's press service for the Republic of Uzbekistan confirmed these developments.
Between September 1, 2026, and January 1, 2030, the Agency for Payments in the Agricultural Sector will disburse subsidies to breeding farms for the procurement of purebred cows and buffaloes. The subsidy will be 1.5 million soums for the initial animal purchased and 2 million soums for the subsequent one.
Furthermore, an additional 1 million soums in subsidies will be allocated for the upkeep of these acquired animals during the first year post-purchase, as well as for an ensuing six-month period.
A specialized service company is slated for creation under the Agency for Livestock Development. Its mandate will involve executing livestock projects internationally and supplying imported cattle and small ruminants to the populace.
This company will also be responsible for setting up import quarantine facilities and initial inspection areas for imported animals. Additionally, it will deliver veterinary, zootechnical, and breeding services, including artificial insemination, for a minimum of one year following the animals' importation.
The Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, in collaboration with regional administrations, will submit proposals from residents of mahallas specializing in livestock farming to the Agency for Livestock Development twice annually—by February 1 and July 1, and by September 1 in 2026. The provision of livestock will be arranged based on these submissions.
To facilitate the program's implementation, the Agency for Livestock Development will receive up to 60 billion soums from the State Target Fund for Poverty Reduction, along with an extra 10 billion soums from the Food Safety Development Fund.
The decree also mandates the formation of the Livestock Breeders Association ("Chorvachilar"). This organization will receive up to 5 billion soums annually through the end of 2028 to support its operations and cover employee compensation.
