Uzbekistan's Trade with Eurasian Development Bank Members Doubles in Five Years

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – According to the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), Uzbekistan's trade with its member nations reached $19.3 billion by the close of 2025, marking a twofold increase from 2020 figures. This trade accounted for roughly 30% of Uzbekistan's total international goods trade.

Uzbekistan became the seventh member of the EDB in 2025, joining Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan. The bank initiated full operational activities in Uzbekistan in 2026, focusing on developing its investment portfolio and enhancing partnerships with local entities.

Over the five-year span, Uzbekistan's trade with EDB member countries expanded by approximately $10 billion. The EDB attributes this growth to stronger regional economic connections, advancements in transport and logistics infrastructure, and increased industrial collaboration.

Trade with Russia and Kazakhstan constitutes the largest portion, collectively making up 85% of Uzbekistan's trade with EDB members. In 2025, trade with Russia amounted to $11.7 billion, and with Kazakhstan, it was $4.7 billion. Following these were Kyrgyzstan at $1.1 billion, Belarus at $0.9 billion, Tajikistan at $0.8 billion, and Armenia at $0.04 billion.

Uzbekistan's imports from EDB countries were primarily petroleum and petroleum products, ferrous metals, timber, cereals, and metallurgical goods.

Conversely, Uzbekistan's exports to EDB member states largely comprised light industry and agribusiness products, such as apparel, fruits and nuts, cotton, vegetables, and automotive components.

The EDB projects that this growth in mutual trade with its member states will open avenues for further increasing intraregional trade and bolstering Uzbekistan's investment and industrial capabilities.
