Uzbekistan and MPOC to Implement Palm Oil Standards

Uzbekistan and the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) are set to collaborate on introducing palm oil standards within the Central Asian nation. This development follows a series of discussions between Belvinder Sron, CEO of MPOC, and Oybek Zufarov, Chairman of Uzbekistan's Association of Producers of Vegetable Oils (APVO), with Uzbek government representatives, as reported by APVO.

The meetings focused on enhancing collaboration in food safety and the broader oil and fat sector. During an international conference, Sron and Zufarov engaged with Kahramon Yuldashev, Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Agriculture, and Zhurabek Shakarbaev, Deputy Director of the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation, which operates under the Cabinet of Ministers.

Discussions centered on potential future cooperation in areas such as food security, the advancement of the oil and fat industry, and the adoption of contemporary technologies. As part of their visit, delegations from MPOC and APVO also toured a state-of-the-art testing laboratory at the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation.

A key outcome of these engagements is the mutual agreement to jointly implement international standards for palm oil and products derived from palm oil in Uzbekistan.
