Uzbekistan and IFC Discuss Capital Market Development

Uzbekistan's NAPP and IFC representatives discussed capital market development and local currency bond issuances by international financial bodies.

Uzbekistan's National Agency for Prospective Projects (NAPP) has engaged in discussions with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the World Bank Group Treasury regarding the advancement of the nation's internal capital market.

Representatives from the IFC's Uzbekistan office were present at the meeting. A key topic of conversation involved the potential issuance of national currency-denominated bonds within Uzbekistan's domestic market by both the IFC and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).

Significant focus was placed on how the World Bank Group Treasury and the IFC could bolster the capital market. Specifically, the dialogue centered on refining the regulatory framework, enhancing market infrastructure, and fortifying institutional capabilities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reiterated their commitment to ongoing collaboration aimed at cultivating Uzbekistan's capital market.

It is anticipated that the execution of these initiatives will broaden the spectrum of available financial instruments, augment financing avenues, and stimulate further growth within the country's domestic capital market.
