Three killed in Moscow restaurant explosion
The deadly blast took place in a venue near the centre of the city, but the cause is currently unclear.
An explosion at a Moscow restaurant has claimed the lives of at least three individuals and left 15 wounded, according to police reports.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:00 PM local time (5:00 PM GMT) on Kudrinskaya Square, situated close to the city center. While the exact cause remains undetermined, the Baza Telegram channel suggested the blast originated in the establishment's kitchen.
A witness informed the channel that the venue was hosting a wedding reception with around 50 guests. Following the explosion, the witness observed individuals being evacuated, covered in blood.
Roads surrounding the square were temporarily shut down. A planned evening bike ride through the city, for which dozens of cyclists had been congregating nearby, was canceled.
Footage released by Russia's RIA news agency depicted heavily armed law enforcement personnel at the cordoned-off scene, which was inaccessible to the public.
