The regions of Uzbekistan where the highest number of corruption crimes were detected have been identified.

In 2025, 7,517 people were prosecuted for corruption offenses in Uzbekistan, Senator Abdukhakim Eshmurodov reported at a Senate meeting.

According to him, damage to the state from corruption during the year exceeded 2.9 trillion soums.

The highest number of individuals who committed corruption offenses was identified in the Andijan region – 946 people. It was followed by the Tashkent region with 793 cases, Kashkadarya with 745, Samarkand with 709, and Namangan with 509.

Among the various sectors, the largest number of those prosecuted were employees of preschool and school educational institutions – 580 people. Also prosecuted were 497 employees of local khokimiyats, 404 employees of healthcare organizations, 245 employees of commercial banks, and 161 employees of higher education institutions.

Senator Abdukhakim Eshmurodov noted that the increase in corruption crimes is partly due to increased efforts to detect them. However, he also pointed to the insufficient effectiveness of internal control mechanisms in ministries and agencies.

"This suggests that in some organizations, compliance control structures created to prevent corruption are limited to merely compiling reports," Abdukhakim Eshmurodov emphasized.
