The State Security Service, in collaboration with the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office and internal affairs bodies, has successfully intercepted two separate instances of corruption in the Andijan and Kashkadarya regions. Criminal proceedings have commenced for both incidents, and investigations are currently underway.
In the Andijan region, the district head of Andijan Suv Taminoti JSC is alleged by investigators to have leveraged his official capacity to solicit US$8,500 from an individual born in 1983.
This payment was purportedly for his assistance, through official connections, in securing a permit for a new residence to be connected to the sewage system and to have a sewage pump installed.
The individual was apprehended during an operation while accepting the money via an intermediary.
Meanwhile, in the Kashkadarya region, law enforcement officials arrested a laboratory technician from the HIV diagnostic laboratory within a district division of the regional Center for AIDS Control and Prevention. Investigators claim this technician accepted US$3,000, promising to utilize his official contacts to procure a favorable expert opinion for a citizen born in 1996.
Further operational efforts led to the arrest of the head of the district department of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Forensic Medical Expertise. Law enforcement agencies reported that this individual received US$2,500 from the aforementioned laboratory technician.
Investigations into both matters are ongoing.
