**Son of Former Armenian Prime Minister Arrested: Suspected of Ordering Murder**

Argam Abramyan, the son of former Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abramyan, a former MP and former mayor of the city of Artashat, has been arrested for two months. The Insider reported. He is accused of ordering a murder in 2023.

According to the investigation, Abramyan suspected his wife of having a personal relationship with the pastor of the Christian Gospel Faith religious organization S.V. It was also revealed that his wife had been giving the pastor a large amount of money. In order to take revenge, Abramyan ordered his bodyguard G.X. to kill the pastor. As a result, the pastor was shot dead on April 30, 2023 near a residential building in Yerevan.

The alleged perpetrator of the crime, G.Kh., was previously charged with murder and illegal arms trafficking, and his case was sent to court in April 2024. Abramyan's lawyer noted that his client does not admit his guilt and that there is no evidence of his involvement in the crime.

Argam Abramyan was detained by officers of the National Security Service of Armenia on August 8. The country's ombudsman Anait Manasyan criticized the Investigative Committee for disclosing information about the personal and family lives of the suspects.

Argam Abramyan is married to the daughter of businessman and leader of the pro-Russian Prosperous Armenia party Gagik Sarukyan. Sarukyan himself has been under arrest since July on charges of organizing fraud and laundering large sums of money. The court transferred the management of the cement and cognac factories owned by him to the state. Sarukyan's party received 3.9893 percent of the vote in the June parliamentary elections, failing to pass the four percent threshold.
