An Afghan boxer has appeared in a Greek court in connection with the death of a Scottish woman.

Sharif Ahmadzai, 26, arrived at the Athens court building in a grey car. He is suspected of killing Scottish aid worker Elisabeth Jane Ross, whose body was discovered in a suitcase in an abandoned building on July 18. She had been reported missing days earlier.

Ahmadzai, who is from Afghanistan, arrived at the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Athens Court of First Instance around 09:40 local time. He is expected to be formally charged later this morning with homicide with intent, robbery, and weapons offences.

He was transported in a grey Hyundai i30 with blacked-out windows.
