Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Senate plenary session discussed the Law “On Amendments and Addenda to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan”. This law is aimed at improving the activities of statistical bodies.

In recent years, systematic work has been carried out in our country to ensure maximum openness and transparency of official statistical data for national and foreign users, as well as to expand the availability of information on the development indicators of economic sectors.

In particular, the establishment of the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan plays an important role in implementing state policy in the field of official statistics, expanding the independence and powers of statistical bodies in coordinating activities within the national statistical system on issues of developing official statistics.

At the same time, in order to strengthen the legal framework for the reforms being implemented in the field of official statistics, there is a need to harmonize the norms of legislative acts in this area.

This Law expands the powers of the Statistical Council, empowering it to assist in the creation of a system for organizing statistical work and coordinate the activities of producers of official statistics in the field.

In addition, it establishes that draft regulatory legal acts that may affect the statistical data of producers of official statistics or the activities of preparing statistical data must be coordinated with the authorized state body.

The Law also strengthens the correction of discrepancies in published official statistics and the publication of corrected data to the public.

As the senators noted, this Law will improve the activities of statistical bodies and create more favorable conditions for users of official statistics within the framework of the effective implementation of administrative reforms in the field of statistics.

At the end of the discussion, the senators approved the Law.
